Where it all started

Starting at a young age as a mountain biker together with my brother learning the skill and playing around we where fortunate enough to have our parents supporting us, traveling to almost every event possible to compete in South Africa.  Road racing also became apart of the program which eventually became my career choice. 

 

Competing in multiple stage races and XC events, at the age of 17 I made the decision to fully convert to road cycling and took the leap to Europe where I persuaded my Pro cycling career, competing in multiple major Grand Tours, Classics, World Champs and Olympics.

Unfortunately a fractured femur sustained during the "Volta a Portugal" resulted in getting a Birmingham hip resurfacing 4 years down the line, working together with the best of the business I soon got back in the pro peloton but just never felt the same again which mentally broke me down. The difficult decision was made to end my Pro career at a young age and focus on my family.

Thereafter with the help of my mentor and previous coaches I have continued to work as a coach and assistance coach for all levels and various age categories, it brings me great joy to assist athletes in pursuing their dream to become the best.
